From a dog's point of view

Long time no seen

It's been a long time since I wrote anything in this blog. Over Christmas and New Year both myself and Witchy stayed at the Annelund Hundhotell when husse and matte were away Down Under for a whole month! We had a good time at doggy hotel. Witchy decided to take the role as controller - she went round all the kennels to check that all dogs were in their proper places in the afternoon after the day in the outdoor pens. She felt she needed to help Helen with that. Me, I just wanted my bisquit :-)

When we came home the neighbours bitch, Wilma, had just come into season. I sang rather loudly for a few weeks.....

Snow came at the end of January and we have now had cold weather for many weeks. It is icy and miserable outdoors (all according to matte, we don't mind).

Staying at a dog hotel

Matte and husse have been away for a few days and I got to stay at Annelunds Hundhotell. Witchy had to stay with our neighbours because she had just come into season. So I had a nice quiet time on my own. Lots of other dogs to talk to and a nice big kennel all to my self. It was still very nice to see matte again though when they came to pick me up I was VERY HAPPY.
Nothing much has happened apart from that. The days are getting shorter and the grass doesn't taste as fresh anymore.

A whole lot of rain

have we had in August. We have had to stay on our towel inside the door after every walkie! It is soooo boring and Witchy especially tries to cheat and tip-toe in before she is allowed in. I try the "hide behind the curtain" trick at times.

Thursday Challenge - Blue

Roscoe is feeling a bit blue.....where is my dinner!? And I haven't seen sheep in ages, it's time to call the RSPCA I do believe. A sheepdog needs to see sheep on a regular basis. This summer it has been either too hot or too wet or the sheep have been on holiday or something. I've been trying to persuade matte to buy some sheep of our own, we have a garden, don't we! Matte keeps saying our garden is too small and we would not be allowed to keep livestock in the middle of a residential area. Hmmm, could she be right?

Wet,wet, wet

This morning we paddled through a stream of water out on our field. We managed to drag matte out in the pouring rain, hi hi. She got soooo wet. Me, I'm waterproof so I don't mind the rain much. Witchy was crazy, she shot across the field like a rocket, she does that quite often. We do prefer this to the extreme heat we had last week even if a little less wind would be good. These humans they don't want to go for quite as long walkies when it is bucketing down, can't understand why:-)

The heatwave is over

After a little less than a week with temperatures over +30 degrees centigrade we are back to more normal weather. Rain and thunder has been the state of affairs the last two days. I don't mind really, I'm weather-proof :-) Matte and husse are moaning a bit though, the don't seem to like getting soaked. Can't understand why....

We have been spending a lot of the time on the new veranda. So has husse and matte, most days they have had their morning coffee break out there.

The other day, Matte was sitting out on our veranda reading her book when this grasshopper landed on the table. As matte went inside to get a cup of coffee, the hopper got interested in the book and tried to read it. Didn't know that grasshoppers could read !

And really, I could submit my whole blog then, couldn't I. I mean, I am a BORDER collie. And so is my house mate, Witchy. So this Sunday's photo to illustrate the theme border will be a photo of Witch, asleep. The best state she can be in as far as I'm concerned :-)

Thursday Foto Challenge

This is getting better and better:-) matte got up early again and took us out for a long morning walkie. We looked for muschrooms today too, but found none. The weather was just perfect though, a bit cooler than recent days but still sunny.

And, matte has finally let me post an entry into one of these photo theme challenges. Thursdays challenge was noisy you see, and I can be that. My bark is pretty loud....

Picking muschrooms

Yesterday morning matte really outdid herself and got out of bed early this morning again. We went looking for these delicious Chanterelle muschrooms. This is what we found. As usual, Witchy claims to have found them :-)

Anyway, looking for muschrooms often means longer walkies since you wander around with your eyes peeled to the ground. This was no exception, we were out and about for at least 45 min. Brill! The weather was nice, not too hot but sunny and no rain.

This afternoon I have spent on my veranda most of the time anyway.

Dogs behind bars

We really like our new front porch, we can peak out through the fence and see what is going on in the outside world. Today I have spent most of the day out there, supervising Husse when he has been doing some paving below. Witchy gets a bit silly when some people walk past and starts barking (and gets sent into the house, hi hi). She needs to learn how to chill out like me.

At the moment it is raining cats and dogs outside, not that I have ever seen any cats or dogs come down from the sky when it gets this wet....

Early morning walkie, yippeee

This morning matte managed to drag herself out of bed bright and early :-) by 7 am we were out on a nice long walkie in the woods. We even picked some chanterelle muschrooms. Well, matte did the picking, but we found them. We have both trained to search for chanterells, even if Witchy says she is a lot better at it than I am. I'm just too busy sniffing all the other smells you can find in the woods. Loads of important messages from all other dogs who frequent these woods. So, I let Witchy believe she is better at it :-)

After a long walkie one gets rather tired and a lie down on the decking in the garden is just right.

The office dog - not amused

Matte has forgotten that she had promised me that I would get the camera and be the one to submit pictures to various photo mem sites. I am sulking! This week it was theme Office for Photo Friday and guess what!? This photo of me, in the office, turns up in matte's wordpress blog. I am not amused.

However, I will keep a close eye on matte and her camera from now on.

Welcome to my space in the great unknown

Well, it is rather unknown to us dogs at the moment even if our people have been glued to the thing they call the net. To us dogs, staring at a blinking screen seems reather stupid. You cannot smell the messages for one, and you cannot see who's written the messages.

My name is Roscoe, a Border Collie in the prime of his life, if I may say so myself :-) I am the oldest in our flock. I am also the tallest (or biggest or largest or however you say about a dog) and the only one of us to BCs who can reach the keyboard. Hence, I get the priviledge of pawing our accounts of events.

My human, hereinafter called matte, says that I talk too much so maybe giving me a blog of my own will keep me more quiet. Hi hi, I only tell the humans when the mailman passes by our house, if DHL is at the door, when Svante, the neighbour parks his car etc etc. Isn't that a dogs job?

Anyway, I suppose I'd better show you who I am living with then.

She is called Witch, and a more suitable name they could not have found. She tries to boss me around all the time, and I sometimes let her, just because I cannot be bothered to put my paw down. I still think she should be returned to her mum. But she can be good fun too and we do enjoy our walkies together.
